The NEW Eat and Explore Washington Cookbook has just been released and it is awesome!
Not only is it filled with wonderful and tempting recipes from all over the state (home to the World Champion Seahawks-yes the 12th man is very proud and loud at Purple Haze! Go Hawks!!) but it also has information about each of the places the featured recipes are from.
Makes a great gift for any cookbook collector and would actually be a fun way to help plan your summer vacation here in Washington State!
You may pick up a copy in our online store!
We have a wonderful new little “greeter”! Her name is Penny! Our owners Mike and Roz have fallen in love with her and she is just a “little bit” spoiled-many of you may remember our first farm dog “Gordy”-he loved each and every visitor to our farm (especially those that shared their ice cream!) Penny is super excited to meet you all-so look for her next time you visit the farm!
This week we finished up our lavender oil distillation at the farm! So nice to have such wonderful weather! The air was filled with lavender and we distilled some beautiful oil!! If you have pre-ordered our Certified Organic Lavender Oil it should be shipping out in the next few weeks!
This past November we had the pleasure of working with Cabela’s for their Spring Womens Catalog photo shoot at the farm. It was an honor to be chosen and we enjoyed hosting them for the day! Not only were photos taken at Purple Haze but they photographed all around the Olympic Peninsula!
See if you can find the pictures of Purple Haze throughout the catalog!
Weddings at Purple Haze are always a special time and we thought you would enjoy these beautiful photos of a recent wedding at the farm.
Normally this time of year at Purple Haze Lavender we are well into our harvest…however, due to our lack of sunshine we are running a couple of weeks behind. This means that our season is just beginning and the fields are full of more and more lavender everyday! So please feel free to come on by and pick yourself a beautiful bundle of FRESH lavender! We are open everyday 9-5!
While we were waiting for summer to appear, we have been busy improving our lavender oil distillation area. This wonderful structure was built and designed by our friend Patrick and fits in perfectly with the farm. Now rain or shine-distilling will be a more comfortable experience for all! We hope you will join us for the distilling demos Lavender Weekend (July 15, 16 & 17, 2011)! This is a great opportunity to see the still work and get all of your questions answered!
This year we have placed the tickets for the farm tours (July 15, 16, & 17, 2011) that happen at Purple Haze Lavender & 6 other farms in Sequim on sale early! We have had many requests to make them available for purchase ONLINE earlier this year! So we did! Saves time when you get to the farm and you don’t need to have the extra cash in hand! Besides that you save $5.00 per person…..children under 12 are still FREE! Come celebrate Purple Haze Lavender’s 15th Anniversary! There is always great music, yummy food and a chair waiting for you!!
Spring has finally sprung! The lavender plants are just starting to come out of their winter sleep. The gift shop at the farm will now be OPEN Fri., Sat., Sun. during the month of April! Please see hours on the left bottom corner of our home page. Lavender Plants available!
Owner Mike Reichner had a great time with the “Celebrate Green” girls Corey and Lynn this week when they interviewed him for their radio program, check out the link below to the nice video they did with some of the lavender products we sent them from the farm! Thank girls!
Our community here on the Olympic Peninsula is richly diverse. Sure, we are no big apple, but with a little effort, you can come across some very lively entertainment and cultural diversions.
One such example of this is the Peninsula College’s Magic of Cinema College Film Series. As quoted from their web page: “The series seeks to present the range of possibilities of film as an art form through screenings of classics from Art Cinema and Hollywood’s Golden Age, as well as contemporary foreign and independent features, and documentaries.” If that is not culture, I don’t know what is! The film this Friday looks very interesting; The Exiles, made in 1961, is said to be one of the most accurate portrayals of contemporary Native American life ever put to film.
The series runs through March, and includes such diverse titles as 1000 Journals, a documentary about lives
touched by travel journals as well as a double feature night dedicated to Paul Newman.
One of the reasons that we decided to start our Wholesale lavender business here in Sequim was because we felt the community was thriving and had much to offer its citizens. We hope that you will take the opportunity to come and visit us here in Sequim on the Olympic Peninsula. We have a beautiful Sequim Vacation Rental here on the lavender farm we invite you to stay in while visiting the beautiful Dungeness Valley!
